Conditions for granting Vietnam visas to foreigners
In Article 10 of Law No. 47/2014/QH13, conditions for granting Vietnam visas to foreigners are as follows:
- Having a passport or international travel document.
- Having inviting or sponsoring agencies, organizations and individuals in Vietnam, except for cases of granting Vietnam visas at overseas Vietnamese agencies authorized to grant visas.
- Not subject to the cases of entry ineligibility.
- For the following cases, it is required to have documents proving the purpose of entry:
a) Foreigners who enter to invest in Vietnam must have papers proving their investment in Vietnam according to the provisions of the Investment Law;
b) Foreigners who work as legal practitioners in Vietnam must have the practicing certificates in accordance with the laws on lawyers;
c) Foreigners who enter to work must have the work permits according to the Labor Code;
d) Foreigners who enter to study in Vietnam must have the written admission issued by Vietnamese schools or educational institutions.
Conditions for foreigners to enter Vietnam
Pursuant to Article 20 of Law No. 51/2019/QH14 amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on entry, exit, transit, and residence of foreigners in Vietnam, the foreigners can enter Vietnam when they meet the following conditions:
- Having a passport or international travel document and a Vietnam visa, except for cases of visa exemption.
- In case a foreigner enters under the class of unilateral visa exemption, the passport must be valid for at least 06 months.
- Not subject to the cases of entry ineligibility.
- Foreigners who use electronic visas (E-visas) for entry must meet the prescribed conditions and enter through international border gates determined by the Government.
However, during the epidemic prevention period and when there are many changes in the procedures for entry into Vietnam, to ensure the implementation of safe and effective measures for epidemic prevention and control, the Government of Vietnam will only allow foreigners who are investors, technical experts, skilled workers, enterprise managers, their relatives, and foreign students to enter Vietnam with safe quarantine plans.
