What is Vietnam E-visa?
Vietnam Electronic visa (Vietnam E-visa) is a type of visa that is granted by the Vietnamese Immigration Department for foreigners online, with the symbol EV. This visa is valid for a Single entry visa, the duration is no more than 30 days.
The issuance of an E-visa not only helps foreigners make entry procedures simpler but also creates a driving force to attract resources to develop the Vietnamese economy.
Conditions to get Vietnam E-visa
Foreigners outside Vietnam who want to enter Vietnam can apply directly for an E-visa or through an inviting/guaranteeing agency or organization. To be granted an E-visa, the following conditions must be met:
- Foreigners are outside Vietnam;
- Have a valid passport;
- Not falling into the cases of temporary entry suspension specified in Article 21 of the Law on entry, exit, transit, and residence of foreigners in Vietnam.

Currently, Vietnam applies E-visa for citizens of 80 countries to enter Vietnam regardless of different purposes such as tourism, visiting relatives, working, marriage, investment, etc. (According to Resolution 79/NQ -CP, from July 1, 2020).

Applying Vietnam E-visa procedure
For foreigners who directly apply for an e-visa
Step 1: Access https://www.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/
Foreigners applying for an E-visa must upload a photo of their face and passport's identity page. After this step, the registration code will be sent to the registrant by the system.
Step 2: Pay the E-visa issuance fee to the account specified on the e-visa information page.
Step 3: Receive the result.
Please enter the registration code, email, and date/month/year/birth to check the results at the E-visa lookup menu. If approved to issue E-visa, please print E-visa to do procedures when entering/exiting Vietnam.
For agencies, and organizations in Vietnam to apply for E-visa (for foreigners)
Step 1: Use the provided account to log in to the declaration and submit the electronic visa application.
Step 2: Fill in the foreigners information who require to have the E-visa
- Upload the photo of the passport identity page and portrait face (face looking straight ahead, no glasses) of the foreigners;
- At the end of this step, the system will issue an Electronic Profile Code.
Step 3: Use an electronic pen to sign and confirm the requested information;
Step 4: Pay the visa fee;
Step 5: Get the result.
Use the account to check the result. If it is approved, you will get the registered code to print the E-visa and enter/exit Vietnam.
NOTICE: For non-citizens from the 80 countries that are eligible for e-visa or want to stay in Vietnam for more than 30 days, they need to learn more about the Visa Stamping Service at the airport.
The processing time to get the E-visa
The Immigration Agency will consider, process, and issue the Vietnam E-visa within 3 working days, from the date of receiving all the information and the visa fees. However, the processing time of an E-visa can change depending on the number of the application form.
The fees to apply for Vietnam E-visa
Vietnam E-visa is a single entry visa, whereby the e-visa application fee is 25 USD per application form. The e-visa fee is paid online via a bank card (American Express cards are not accepted).

FAQ when applying for Vietnam E-visa
Question - Can I change the border gate when entering Vietnam?
Answer - NO. You can’t change the border gate’s information, even after submitting your electronic visa application OR after your visa has been issued. If you want to change, you need to apply for a new visa.
Question - Can I change the Vietnam E-visa purpose?
Answer - YES. In case, you enter by E-visa and have Work Permit or have confirmation of not being eligible for a work permit in accordance with the labor law. You are granted new visas with symbols and duration suitable for conversion purposes.
