Which type of investment is the DT4 visa granted?
The law on exit, entry and transit of foreigners in 2019 stipulates that the Vietnam visa symbol DT4 (or DT4 visa): “Issued to foreign investors in Vietnam and representatives of foreign organizations investing in Vietnam and contributing capital of less than VND 3 billion.”
From there, investors and foreign capital contributors who participate in capital contributions in Vietnam under VND 3 billion will be granted an Investor DT4 visa.
Duration of DT4 visa
The Immigration Law states that the DT4 visa is granted to foreign investors for a maximum period of 01 year. In case the investor's passport is valid for less than 01 year, the DT4 visa is granted 30 days shorter than the passport's validity.
Unlike DT1, DT2 and DT3 visas, you can extend your stay in Vietnam through a temporary residence card. Then, for foreigners whose DT4 visa is about to expire, if they want to continue working in Vietnam, they can only:

To get a DT4 visa, a foreigner must meet the following conditions:
- Have a passport or international travel document that is still valid as prescribed
- To be invited or guaranteed by agencies, organizations, and individuals in Vietnam
- Have not been banned to enter the country specified in Article 21 of Law No. 47/2014/QH13
- Have documents that prove the investment in Vietnam following the provisions of the Law on Investment
What document does DT4 visa include?
The guarantor and the foreigner need to prepare all the following documents when applying for a DT4 visa:
- Application form for issuance of approval entry letter to foreigners entering Vietnam - NA2 Form

Investor DT4 visa procedures
Step 1: The guarantor prepares a document to carry out the Investor DT4 visa procedures at the Immigration Department of Vietnam.
Step 2: After about 5 working days, the Immigration Department will return the approval entry letter results to the guaranteed agency. (In case foreigners carry out the visa stamping procedure at the Vietnamese Consulate General abroad, the Immigration Department faxes will notify the DT4 visa result to foreign investors at the Embassy).
Step 3: The guarantee agency notifies and sends an approval entry letter to the foreign investor, and the investor must prepare documents as instructions to carry out the DT4 visa procedures.
Step 4: The investor brings the Investor visa stamping application with the symbol DT4 to the location stated in the approval entry letter to complete the visa stamping procedure. Normally, investors can apply for Vietnam visa stamping at:
