What is Vietnam NG1 visa? Subjects granted NG1 visa
Previously, foreigners who were official members of invited delegations of the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly and the President entering Vietnam would be granted A1 visas (according to Joint Circular No. 04/2002/TTLT/ BCA-BNG).
According to the latest regulations, foreigners who are in the guest delegation of the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the President, the National Assembly, and the Prime Minister will be granted a Vietnam NG1 visa. This visa is also known as NG1 visa or Diplomatic visa (according to Law No. 47/2014/QH13, effective 01/01/2015).
Conditions to be granted NG1 visa
To be granted this visa, foreigners must meet the following conditions:
- Have a passport or valid international travel document.
- Have a letter of invitation/guarantee from a government organization.
- Not being banned to enter the country.
Procedures for inviting and guaranteeing foreigners
Step 1: Foreigners who are eligible to be granted a Vietnam NG1 visa through an inviting or guaranteeing agency or organization shall submit a visa application at a Competent Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Step 2: The inviting or guaranteeing agency or organization shall notify in writing the competent agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to issue a visa. At the same time, they must notify the immigration management agency about the entry of foreigners.
Step 3: After receiving the answer from a competent agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the agency or organization notifies the foreigner to carry out the procedures at a Vietnamese visa-issuing authority abroad.
Vietnam NG1 visa application
Foreigners who apply for NG1 visa should carry out procedures to receive visas at Vietnam's visa-issuing agencies abroad. Foreigners must prepare:
- Valid passport
- A photo card according to passport standards
- Papers proving that the foreigner is a guest in the delegation, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, State President, President of the National Assembly, Prime Minister
- The application form for a Vietnam visa.
- Other documents on request.
Note: Agencies and organizations that apply for visas must pay the fee to competent agencies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
How long is the Diplomatic NG1 visa?
When fully completing the prescribed application procedures, foreigners will be granted a NG1 visa with a maximum period of 12 months.
However, it should be noted that the NG1 visa is a visa that cannot be granted a Temporary Residence Card. In case, foreigners still want to stay in Vietnam, they need to apply for a new Vietnam visa according to regulations.
The processing time of Diplomatic NG1 visa
The competent agency of Vietnam abroad will issue NG1 visa within 01 working day. The processing time is counted from the date of receiving the passport, the declaration of application for visa with photo.
