The visa for visiting relatives (code: TT or VR) is a Vietnam visa which is valid for up to 12 months. This visa is issued to:
+ Foreigners who are spouses/children under 18 years old of foreigners working in Vietnam (code: LV1, LV2, LS, DT1, DT2, DT3, NN1, NN2, DH, PV1, LD1, LD2).
+ Foreigners who are spouses/children of Vietnamese citizens for the purpose of visiting relatives.
Addition to the visas for visiting relatives, foreigners who are spouses/children of Vietnamese citizens can apply for a 5-year visa exemption (5-year visa), valid for up to 05 years, maximum length of stay up to 06 months/entry.

To extend a visa for visiting relatives, a foreigner needs to meet the following requirements:
+ Valid passport (it is best to be valid for over 01 year).
+ Certificate of temporary residence registration issued by the police or locality of the temporary residence.
+ Be sponsored by a relative who is a Vietnamese (spouse/parent/child) or a company for which such relative is working in Vietnam.

The application for extension of visa for visiting relatives should include the following documents:
+ Foreigner’s valid passport;
+ Declaration for visa extension, temporary residence extension, made under NA5 form, filled with all information and certified by the local public security agency where the foreigner temporarily resides or sponsoring company is located.
+ Certificate of temporary residence of the local public security agency where the foreigner temporarily resides.
In case the foreigner is the spouse or child under 18 years old of a foreigner working in Vietnam, the following additional documents should be provided:
+ Legal documents of the sponsoring company for which the foreigner works in Vietnam: Business license, investment certificate or representative office establishment certificate;
+ Valid passport, temporary residence card/visa and work permit of the foreigner working in Vietnam.
+ Papers proving the relationship between a foreigner and a Vietnamese citizen: Marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc.
In case the foreigner is the spouse or child of a Vietnamese citizen for the purpose of visiting relatives, the following additional documents should be provided:
+ ID papers of the relative who is Vietnamese citizen;
+ Papers proving the relationship between a foreigner and a Vietnamese citizen: Marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc.
